Building a VMware sensor
To run a sensor in a VMware environment you will need to build a VMware image. This is basically just a Debian installation within VMware and the surfids-sensor package installed. There's not much more to it.
Building process
- Download Debian stable net install iso.
- Load the iso in the CD/DVD drive of your VM.
- Boot up the VM.
- Now follow the installation instructions for the sensor.
- Additionally, when you are finished with the installation, you can install the VMware tools.
